Staff Augmentation 101: Why Staff Augmentation?

Outsourcing typically involves delegating entire functions, processes, tasks, or departments to an external partner rather than handling it in-house.

In a traditional outsourcing model, you’re typically paying for an external partner to take full control and responsibility over work you choose not to handle internally because that work is not one of your core abilities. When using an outsourcing model, in addition to managing the execution of the work, your external partner will also typically handle staffing, management, and all other corresponding HR tasks. 


Bottom line: with an outsourcing solution, you intentionally choose to give up control over the work and the people who do the work. So if you really really love the idea of handling the HR aspect of employment, Staff Augmentation might not be the best fit for you since you’ll no longer have to handle the HR stuff.
